Oh boy, he’s writing.
End of the the prologue. Now begins the story of Lost Cause, way back in the Antebellum year, 1850. Who’s ready?
Antebellum covers anywhere from 1815-1860, and is classified as the years leading up to the The American Civil War. Also known as the “Plantation Era”, and for good reason. At this time, the South’s economy grows more and more dependent on slavery as cotton replaces tobacco, and becomes the staple crop. Not surprisingly, the South becomes quickly stuck in agrarian ways, where the North continues to progress towards industrialism, leading to a slow yet continuous decline in the relationship between the two. Political disharmony between the slave run South and industrial North is patched up by shaky compromises, and by shoving important race-issues under the rug.
